Potable Water

Subsea Global Solutions has been providing reservoir and potable water storage diving services for over 30 years and has the systems and equipment available to undertake inspection and most repair processes whilst the reservoir remains full and in many cases still on-line and in service.

Our specifically designed vacuum equipment allows the reservoirs to be cleaned whilst still operational with little disturbance to the silt and sediment generally found on the floor of these storage facilities therefore maintaining the highest water quality possible.

Access to some of these storage facilities can also present difficulties requiring Confined space entry training and diver recovery equipment being available at the entry point, again Subsea Global Solutions can provide all of the equipment and trained personnel required to safely assess and complete the job from initial project investigation and documented proposals through to final repair, reporting and CCTV footage of the works. Services include:

  • Debris removal and tank vacuuming
  • Leak location using potable water safe dyes
  • Valve replacement and outlet/inlet sealing
  • All NDT services including thickness testing of shell plate
  • Concrete repairs using approved epoxies
  • Surveillance and inspection with digital CCTV record

Contaminated Water

Diving in contaminated environments should be avoided wherever possible due to the relatively high chance of the diver being contaminated despite the precautions observed.

In some circumstances there is no alternative but to resort to manned intervention and in these situations Subsea Global Solutions has the required equipment and experience to safely carry out this type of work.

Contaminated environments can range from biological contaminants such as untreated sewerage, fresh water containing blue green algae or water suspected of containing protozoans, bacteria or viruses, or Chemical contaminants such as hydrocarbons either way a full understanding of the nature of the contamination is required so adequate planning, equipment and decontamination facilities are on hand to protect the diver, support crew and also the local environment

Subsea Global Solutions can provide a complete service from initial planning through to final decontamination and medical monitoring. We are able to supply all the specialized equipment and know how to successfully complete a wide range of tasks In contaminated environments.

Double Bow Thruster Removal by SGS

The benefits of removing a damaged bow thruster afloat are many. The customer was able to prevent further damage to the bearings and gears caused by the presence of seawater in the gear housing and the procedures allows the units to be overhauled prior to the vessels next dry-dock—or, they can be re-installed afloat by SGS, which would help to eliminate the need for additional tug cost.

Afloat Bow Thruster Blade Seal Exchange by SGS

The project was executed with two SGS teams working around the clock. While the vessel trimming process was in motion, the team onboard the vessel began to drain the oil from the thruster while the dive team began removing the bow thruster tunnel gratings to gain full access to the bow thruster.
