Gray Diving, founded and built by Bill Gray, became a force in the commercial diving world. Bill’s career as a diver began during his service in the U.S. Navy in the 1940s, where he was attached to the American small ships unit during World War II. This instilled both discipline and a passion for working in and around the water. That passion led to the establishment of JW Gray & Sons, a company that would play a defining role in advancing underwater services across Australia.

In the 1970s, the next generation of the Gray family joined the effort. Bill and Rip Gray worked side by side changing the name to Gray Diving Services Pty Ltd, bringing innovation and expertise to projects that pushed the boundaries of what divers could achieve underwater. Their commitment to excellence and family-driven leadership established Gray Diving as a trusted partner in the onshore construction and maritime industries.

Gray Diving later became part of Subsea Global Solutions, bringing with it not just technical capabilities but a spirit of resilience, innovation, and family legacy. Today, that legacy lives on in Subsea Global Solutions’ global operations and in the high standards our teams uphold on every dive.
