Ex-Naval Officer holding rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Held various commands of Singapore Navy warships as well as serving as the Commanding Officer of the Naval Diving Unit. Also trained in the US Navy. Left the military service in September 1991 after 15 years to join the commercial and moved to the commercial diving industry where he has been for nearly 30 years. Considered as a pioneer in the business, having owned and operated one of Singapore’s successful commercial inshore diving companies (Maritime Underwater Maintenance) and was responsible for its set-up, growth and subsequent acquisition by UMC International. He was responsible for the strategic planning, financial and operational management, and overall service delivery both as a business owner and the General Manager for Metalock Underwater Maintenance, UMC International S/E Asia and KBA Marine Services. Possesses a broad range and experience in Underwater Ships Husbandry (UWSH) works for naval and commercial ships, special underwater projects, as well as civil and construction work (marine) for oil majors (Exxon Mobil), civilian contractors, stat boards and other government agencies.
